Summary of the Opportunity

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and disseminating communications materials, assisting with media engagement, and managing a number of Forum assets. This position serves as an integral member of a fast-paced communications team and supports all aspects of its work.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafts press releases, statements, OpEds, letters to the editor, fact sheets, and other materials as needed, and manages approvals by relevant Forum staff or members and public distribution
• Assists Director of Media and Outreach in pitching, coordinating, and facilitating media engagement including but not limited to quarterly reporter lunches, print interviews, and TV, radio, and podcast appearances
• Leads work to track and convey contributions of member firms in areas across the country, including maintaining the database and webpage, and developing fact sheets in close coordination with the government relations team
• Designs creative and writes copy for the Forum and Forum CEO’s Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media channels and posts as applicable
• With Senior Manager of Digital Strategy, manages Forum website, writing and editing website copy, updating content, and developing website strategy
• Writes copy for the Forum’s newsletter, the Forum File, and leads coordination of member content.
• Develops and updates Forum fact sheets, coordinating copy with Forum staff and developing design
• Maintains weekly editorial calendar for all digital products, prioritizing messaging based on current events and priorities in coordination with members of the Forum team
• Maintains weekly and monthly calendar of events for use by Forum team to organize workflow and monitoring
• Maintains a rapid response database of talking points, data, and graphics on relevant topics, working closely with policy research and government relations teams to ensure most up to date information
• Tracks social media of member firms, relevant trade groups, bank regulatory agencies, Capitol Hill committees, and other social media accounts of interest to the Forum
• Creates weekly report tracking key Forum communications efforts for dissemination to member communicators
• Assists other Forum team members on research, events, planning, government relations, and other items as needed
• Monitors hearings, press conferences, member press hits and other events
• Acts as a liaison to news alerts contractor to flag events that are of particular interest to help ensure quick delivery of relevant stories
• Manages news subscriptions for Forum staff
• Regularly reviews Forum products, including website, fact sheets, and other items to flag outdated information and works to update
• Tracks media coverage and contacts
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

What You’ll Need to Succeed (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• At least two years of prior work experience in communications, government, or a related field
• Experience in financial services industry preferred

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Director of Media and Outreach.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $78,359 – $89,757. Additionally, the Forum provides a generous benefit package including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with matching contribution, FSA/HSA, and paid time off.

Work Environment
This position is based in a professional environment in Washington, D.C., and requires work to be performed within the Forum’s office with an option for part-time remote work on Fridays. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones, in addition to virtual meeting platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of this job consistent with federal, state, and local standards.

Occasional out-of-town travel is required for this position.
