Our impact in California starts with direct engagement in local communities.
In 2019, Wells Fargo provided $3.25 million in financial resources to residents, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations in Butte County, California, to address housing and economic challenges after wildfires. In 2018, Wells Fargo provided $2.8 million in wildfire disaster relief. Wells Fargo has also deployed its Mobile Response Unit to assist any customers in need. See More
Since 2018 Wells Fargo has teamed up with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to help underemployed workers in 15 metro areas, including Los Angeles County, increase their incomes and raise their standards of living. LISC is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit organizations supporting projects that revitalize struggling communities, investing more than $19 billion to spur economic opportunity. Wells Fargo is providing $2.5 million to help expand LISC’s Financial Opportunity Centers, which are neighborhood-based programs that offer participants education, long-term financial coaching, job training/placement and low-cost financial products to help them build credit, savings and assets.
Every year, the U.S. produces enough plastic bottles to circle the earth more than 170 times. Citi was the first bank to provide financing so rPlanet Earth could build the first and only U.S. facility that can turn old bottles into new packaging in a single factory. Now rPlanet Earth will be recycling 1.5 billion bottles each year. Read More
